Care guide
How to properly care for our holds
We choose not to use any finish such as oils or varnish on our holds. This decision is based on the understanding that such finishes wear quickly when climbed on, leaving the hold looking dirty and mistreated. Additionally, we believe that untreated wooden holds provide the best possible climbing experience.
This choice also means that caring for our holds is super easy.
Cleaning
Use a pressure washer. Exercise caution around bolt and screw holes, as well as other features where water can collect.
- Allow the holds to dry thoroughly, ensuring no surfaces are left sitting in water.
- Make sure water does not accumulate in cracks or other features.
- Avoid using chemicals.
Sanding
If a hold gets dropped, nicked, or feels rough to climb on, it's a good idea to sand it.
Grit progression
80 grit: Use to remove material efficiently.
100-120 grit: This range provides a good balance between aesthetics and friction. We recommend stopping here in most cases.
180-240 grit: This range offers excellent aesthetics and decent friction.
- Use high-quality sandpaper and a flexible sanding block.
- Be mindful not to overdo it—remember that sanding removes material.
