Care guide
How to properly care for our holds
We choose not to use any finish such as oils or varnish on our holds. This decision is based on the understanding that such finishes wear quickly when climbed on, leaving the hold looking dirty and mistreated. Additionally, we believe that untreated wooden holds provide the best possible climbing experience.
This choice also means that caring for our holds is super easy.
Cleaning
Most of the time, a damp cloth is sufficient. For tougher dirt, use a pressure washer or lightly sand the surface. Exercise caution around bolt and screw holes, as well as other features where water can collect.
- Do not use any chemicals.
- Allow the holds to dry thoroughly, ensuring no surfaces are left sitting in water after cleaning.
- Make sure water does not accumulate in cracks or other features.
Sanding
If a hold gets dropped, nicked, or feels rough to climb on, it can be revitalized with a bit of sanding. Use high-quality sandpaper and preferably a flexible sanding block. Be mindful not to overdo it to maximize the lifespan of the hold.
Grit progression
- 80 grit - Use to remove material efficiently.
- 100 to 120 grit (Recommended) - This range provides a good balance between aesthetics and friction.
- 180 to 240 grit - This range offers excellent aesthetics and decent friction.
